Do you have a zen box?

    Over the years I've collected so much stuff. One thing about the months of lock down, and limited to where one goes I came up with an ideal...what to do will all those items,exonuma, coins, medals,etc...etc..
    Why not put them all together in one display? Yes a "Zen box" its the perfect place to house,and appreciate items that you either collected or items given by a member,or friend.
    How many times have you had a specimen that doesn't fit what you collect,but you like it....as perhasp a friend gave it to you,or a family member....something from grand ma's buffett drawer...or a small token like perhasp your old boy, or girl scout medals. Your mom or dads years of service pin.
    Make yourself a Zen box...there no rhyme or reasons...its your box, your rules,and hours of fun putting it togther!
    Then on a rainy day or just for fun ,you pull it apart and rearrange the box.
    So relaxing no rules, no permission needed,just you and your own design placing the specimens in a box for display.
    And that's what so cool as all these bits and pieces....normally thrown in a drawer and forgotten now have a purpose, to fill your Zen Box and be in sight to enjoy. 20211120_111616.jpg

    I really like this idea. I used to be a general collector, nabbing anything that caught my eye. But now, I've kind of focused my collection into about 4 areas that I really enjoy, allowing for fewer, but better quality coins. This being said, I still can't fight the urge sometimes to buy that oddball piece that I find attractive. I think those pieces would really look good in something like this.

    That is really neat. Thank you for the idea and your wonderful example of a Zen Box.
    I am finally finishing my upstairs library and something like this would go great on my desk.

    I believe @paddyman98 showed us one like that a year or more ago. Could be wrong, but someone did make one like yours. Neat idea and makes a great display that you don't worry about or fuss over.

    Hi PaddyB! Back to the OP, a question. OK, the box looks great, oak wood, is it? Are the coins glued down somehow? I would also like to make something like that and am leery of damaging any coins, no matter how cheap or common they may be.

    I said hi to my pal PaddyB. Then I asked a question of the OP (original poster, Paddy54).
    That is exactly what I meant to do.

    @coin_nut
    Got it ;)
    I wouldn't glue them down. Then you would not be able to show or enjoy the other side of the items. The thing with the Zen box or my Relic box is that you always have to keep it level on a flat surface so the items don't move. It does has a felt padding to place the items on so they don't move as much.

    The box is oak it has a piece of foam under a velvet cloth,the lid holds the coins in place ,but one does need to carry it level so no shift in the contents. There no glue or tape used,as again its just for a flat display,and one wants to rearrange it from time to time....like one would a zen garden.
