This is also my game. Although I'm not really sure why, other than I have been doing it for at least fifteen years.
Im fairly new but really like nickles for some reason. I am in the process of filling some albums and also building a type set with nicer coins.
I don't know if this is typical but I find at least one 1964 in each roll I open. It is hard to imaging them ever having a value above face or melt.
Right. I just spend the 1964 unless they are excellent condition. I had a nice find recently in rolls. It was a very nice 1938P. Couldn't believe it.
I'm with ya there - I collect V's, Buffs, and Jeffs -plus Lincolns and small US Currency...of all, nickles are my fav....
The mint didn't release a mint set that year, along with 1983. Also in 1982 the mintage was around 432 million less than in 1983.
I was looking in my red book and saw 1994P special uncirculated was included in the 93 Jefferson commemorative dollar packaging. It is frosted. The 1997P was in the Botanic Gardens sets. Both coins look like proofs.
I tend to keep anything before 1960. I also have had some luck recently with the wartime nickels so of course im keeping those
