Is it ok that I sent to PCGS with signature required?

Nah I’m not worried about where it is or when my coins will come back. I know it will be months.

I just am wondering when they enter the order into the system rather than just saying “we received your package”.

Like if I go to my order history there is nothing there so I was curious when that goes into the system.

I don’t mind waiting. I’d rather pay $17 per coin than $60 or whatever for express.

Weirdly enough it costs $18 just for the First Strike designation which is more than the actual $17 grading fee but anyone can verify FS without even looking at the coin.

If it meets the cutoff date or comes in mint packaging it’s FS and if it’s too late it’s not.

They charge $18 for that?? I don’t understand why. It seems like grading the coin would take more time & effort than just determining if the coins were shipped before November 18th or not.

The best tell for how long is somebody with a recent submission chiming in. If I had to guess, it should hit the que on or before Nov. 30th, but just a wag. Holiday is approaching and nobody likes working before, during, or after a holiday.

They don’t like criticism ATS posting that there could get you banned. I’d started a thread asking why there customer service number was busy 24/7 and they responded it should never ring busy. I had been attempting to contact them during my lunch break and it was just a busy signal. It took me awhile to figure out that they posted the “wrong number” on their mobile app and clicking it connected to a busy signal. I posted in my thread that their phone number was wrong on the mobile app. They had inverted the numbers. Some computer geek replied with “Haha dudes right and said something about the scripting”….Did I get a free grading voucher, or even a thank you….No. within a few hours I’d been banned. They did however, fix their mistake, and proofed my entire thread.

Thanks! I’m surprised PCGS doesn’t hire a few more graders if they are constantly swamped with coins to be graded.

From the statistics they post on their website it looks like they are grading around 7,000 coins per day.

They found a sweet spot that you guys who want a FS label will pay that exorbitant price. Always, always, follow the money.

Graders worth hiring dont grow on trees.

They're also dealing with Cali covid restrictions they have no control over

I just got the label because unfortunately it does make the coins easier to sell and brings a higher price.

Oh, and that answer also leads you to follow the money as well. It's on all levels, not just the TPG.

Yeah but I mean I just don’t understand why they would charge more for that than to grade the coin itself.

Surely they would still make a profit if they charged $10 for FS.

In fact it might even encourage more people to pay for it at that price and increase profits while being cheaper for the customer.

    It just doesn’t make sense!

No, no it doesn't make cents. It makes dollars. Lots of them. And that's my whole argument. ;)

I've had them go in after 2-3 days and other times it's taken over a week, just have to be patient. That order before was Modern value and it was submitted 10/20/21 and my economy order with commems was submitted 9/29/21 and it's hasn't made it out of grading yet, so expect a long wait.

Hey guys I just got a notification email that something from “Collectors Universe” is being mailed to me.

Does this mean I did something wrong with my submission and they are sending my coins back?

Or do they send something when you first join up? Like a welcome package?

    It’s your membership stuff.

The only time they’d call is if you did something very cool and they had to have a meeting to figure out what to do. For example say you got ahold of a couple hundred coins bought out of some dudes trunk 3 weeks before the official release. Nowadays however, they’d likely just call them advanced release…lol

Oh yeah? Is it a packet or something? I got my “welcome email” already.

What comes int the mailed welcome stuff?

I am just praying it’s not my coins being returned to me and making me ineligible for First Strike :/

Depends on the level. But minimally a piece of paper with your membership # and some extra submission forms maybe a magazine…those will come every few months

Beyond that, go have a shot and a beer, chill, heck you make me nervous..

I'm glad you said it. My response was going to include something to the effect of, your Xanax isn't working. I'm just glad I didn't have to go there ;)

    It’s not working at all!

Im the kind of person referred to as a “worrywort”. The VA calls it “Generalized Anxiety Disorder”, but no matter what it’s called I am definitely it.

Especially when I’m doing something for the first time like this.

Once I see the order in the system I’ll be just fine while they take months to grade and return them.

Oh hey when you get to see the grades online can you show me what it looks like? I’m really curious to see how PCGS does it online.

Here’s a mobile view. The PC view is different. It’s day after day of nothing, then Bam, it’s like a punch in the face as the grades appear, followed by seconds of digesting what has happened. 5A8DBA53-8D8F-4A60-92F9-2E5C7ADAA018.png 85FFE05C-D95A-4362-91EA-7FD86C27A611.png
