That's what I'd guess, but it looks kinda like some weird worm. Doubt that's what it is though, because it'd be a lot flatter.
Dentist's kid playing around with the dental tools and coins. Looks like damage done by a micro drill.
Really?if it was damaged i would expect to see the zilincon effect at least and there's no signs of displaced metal.
If that is all raised it would be an amazing strike through. It does go between the letters in Liberty without touching. If that's the case possibly metal from another coin that had been damaged and was still stuck in the chamber. But if all is below the surface then I'm not sure what could have caused it, especially since there is no zinc showing. The diff. pics are a bit deceiving.
Looks like it was struck through a string to me. You can see the lettering underneath where the indent is which leads me to believe it was there when the coin was struck.
Then I’d say the planchet was damaged before it was coated with copper. That’s why no zinc is showing. That’s just my opinion.
And the weight is? The second image does a great job of showing that it is incuse. The letters of IN GOD inside the incuse area wouldn't be visible if it were "dremeled". IMHO, it is not PMD but a very unique strikethrough.
