2002 Brazil 50 Cetavos various errors I think I am getting a grip of the various errors now well almost - what do you think to this theres errors on both sides and the I & L for BRASIL is missing on the edge inscription
Please explain what you see as errors on obverse and reverse. The edge is either a strike through grease/debris, or damage of some sort which could be the reason for the shiny area and the ding on the L. The I and L are there, just faded.
Ok sorry Im actually asking if these are genuine errors I suppose and assuming that they are what the correct error reference is
and on 1 side of the coin theres additonal raised material around the edge the other side has a possible double strike around the face ?
Let me rephrase this in layman's terms : Can anybody see whats different about this 50 Centavo coin please ? Expat Im a newbie and not familiar with Numistmatics language yet
Understood. I was referring to your opening statement that there were errors on both sides. Normally it is advisable when asking for opinions, that some due diligence is performed, either posting a link to a site that purportedly shows what you think you see, or to explain what you are seeing. Having said that, there is a lot less variety and error sites available than for US coins. I suggest you familiarize yourself on these US sites with what errors and varieties look like and the difference between them. The minting process and how dies are made is also good information. with all this you can start to apply the knowledge to the World coins and be able to discard most that are no/not much added value. You will find many, many worn, damaged examples compared to genuine anomalies. In case you haven't got them here are a few sites with great info for your learning. https://doubleddie.com/ http://www.lincolncentresource.com/ http://varietyvista.com/ https://www.error-ref.com/ Have fun with the reading and learning, It is as important as the collecting
Can't discern much from your photos, maybe some better ones would help. Edge Smooth and inscripted Lettering: * ORDEM E PROGRESSO * BRASIL Translation: Order and Progress Brazil From: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces666.html
Great thanks this is exactly what im looking for : able to discard most that are no/not much added value. You will find many, many worn, damaged examples compared to genuine anomalies. And going forward I think ill start my posts with Help needed. Reading & learning is indeed interesting but human nature being so means that we look for the short cut. Thanks again
Apologies Iphone pictures 1 day they are fine the next day not, Ive bought a few microscopes they were great close up but no zoom out feature to capture the whole coin so im still searching for a decent setup.
