2018 d error?

Is this an error if so what is it called ive seen it on a few coins and always wondered?

Damaged from a roll crimping machine,still a cent.

 

Not jammed.
Coin wrapper crimping machine damage.
Called the ring of death.

The cent was at the end of the roll. When it's pressed to hard against the machine the coin gets scratched.
Got that @potty dollar 1878 ?

 

yes I know just have a quick post sensation,but could a soda machine basically do the same thing.

Respectfully Potty, I've said before you need to slow it down. You do not always have to be first to reply. Better to reply when you are sure than make an erroneous post or have to go back and correct it. Patience goes a long ways.
