    Hello everyone,

A week ago I bought a new Canon 500D or Rebel1 I think it´s called in the US.

I have been looking into getting a lens and i´m almost decided.

I´m looking at the sigma 180 or 150 MM

I would like to hear your comments or thoughts on this. Or even if you think it´s not a wise choice :)

    105

Consider a macro 105mm. I don't read the lit like I used to but I found this to be a most useful focal length plus it is ideal for portrait work.

Why do you seek longer? You a basketball:rolleyes: tall person?

I'm using the Sigma 150 on a Canon Rebel. It's a great lens.
It's heavy and you will need a copy stand.

To vague a question. What are your plans for that camera. If for coins, you will need a lens with a Macro capability. If for general usage, almost any lens is OK. Many people prefer a telephoto/wide angle type from about 35mm to 105mm or higher. For 150 to 180mm, your sort of just using for telephoto you know. The Sigma is a decent brand but nothing special for quality. There is just to much info needed for you to make a decision on the type and size of the lens. Since your on a coin forum, I suppose your intensions are for photographing coins though.
Regadless of what you decide, I suggest you take a little more time to decide exactly what your overall plans are with that camera.

The camera was bought for taking pictures of coins :)

But as you can understand it will be used as well here at home.

The lens i´m looking into buying is bought purely for taking pictures of coins

I would suggest a Tamron 90mmx2.8 Macro. Best bang for the buck.;)

    Good Choice

    Good Choice!:secret:

But if your OTHER hobby is photography you will find out that coins can be found on the cheap, comparatively.

They are not made from glass....are they?

If they get wet are they really ruined because of mold, shock, moisture, infection?

How many G's can a IHC withstand?

Photography is the All~Mighty's way of saying you have not yet spent all your money on collecting coins.

So you end up collecting imaging equipment. And when you get done you still want one each.:p

Or am I thinking of significant others? :stooge:

The Tamron has good specks/bang for the buck/Lb/Euro/Yen.
