Got some change back and noticed one of the dollars looked off one of my friends told me it looked like a miss print can anyone give any info or idea of value if any It has a J69 on the front and a small 70 on the back (might not be able to see it in the pictures)
That's the edge of a teller's stamp. They usually stamp the straps and sometimes they miss and get the bill as well.
The J69 and the 70 on the bill are printed by the BEP. In other words, not those exact numbers but all bills will have numbers in those places.
He’s not asking about the edge of the tellers stamp even though the photo gives that impression. I had to think about it to know what he meant. Had to look these up. This is a good site to understand paper money. https://money.howstuffworks.com/symbols-dollar-bill.htm The J69 is the Note Position and the Plate Serial Number. The 70 on the back is the plate serial number for that side. Both, along with other features are explained in the link. Welcome to CT.
Well, he is incorrect. Nothing special about this note. As we say, "it's a spender." BTW this may help.
And since you created your thread on the What's it Worth forum.. The answer is $1.00 BTW.. Miss print was my Junior High School lab teacher
No I was talking about the stamp thing just put the numbers bc you couldn't really see them in the picture so I added them just in case it was important
Well you specifically stated “J69” on the front and “70” on the back. The only numbers on a tellers stamp are the date. Your bill has the J69 and the 70 on them. Your first photo has the J69 in the lower right corner. What’s showing on the tellers stamp is the city and state. If I had to guess I would say Georgia but there’s not enough showing to quests at the city. Even GA is pushing it.
