    Hey Gang,

I picked these guys up today. If you have ever looked for a mint state 1919 S you will know how incredibly difficult they are to locate in MS64 or higher. These coins are notoriously weakly struck. I have seen thousands of these in ugly condition over the years buying wheat cents but this is by far one of the nicest pieces I have seen. I wanted to share.

Nice coin. I am not so sure you will get a 64 on it though. It depends on the luster in hand. BTW, what is with the reverse particularly through the AMERICA.

There are some nice 1919-S's out there. Here is one I picked up a while ago. NGC 64RB

The little ticks and hits in America?

It's one of the weakly struck areas that you see on some of the early Lincolns. They kind of get the glittery look to it... hard to explain.

It looks pretty good imo, they are rather difficult to find.

No. It looks like there is a die clash between the A and M and below the A. Also, there is something between the N in one and pluribus. However, neither correlate to the obverse.

I think I'm seeing the same thing, some depression or stain line running through the M and E right?

North West portion of O in One looks weak.

    Aahh that,

It's a little streak in the planchet. You know how these early Lincoln planchets are with their impurities.

I can definitely relate to that. Here's what your likely to find in 1919s strikes...... it hasn't hit the top of my upgrade list yet, but is working it's way to the top.

The coin looks like it started off with a poor planchet, then got a weak strike.
If it's MS, I'd have a hard time seeing it even get a -63.

I'd like to throw in a I don't care what grade that is. I think it would fit nicely in my set #1 of those Lincoln Cents. If not, then in set #2 for sure.
Really nice coin. But of course there are always those with mine is better than yours.

Outstanding. From the pics I was thinking it would go RD.... but it's very hard to judge color in pics,,, looks RD in the pics to me. I was thinking 64 or 63 too... probably would have gone conservative because of the right wheat stalk, which looks like it has a bit of wear,,, but could easily be strike related also,, alway's hard to tell.
    Nice coin !
