Nice Fractional Shield for sale @ Denly's of Boston .This is one that survived the flood.
    Lovely Gray Currency Shield
At the Bay State Show this November, I purchased this lovely currency shield. Most grey shields, after being made, were stored in the basement of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing so they had water damage in the bottom right corner. This DOES NOT! This shield has a light dirt line across the center, but it doesn't take away from its character. Banks would receive these shields and they would purchase their own frame. This particular frame is very basic frame, so we took that into account when pricing. It's a fabulous deal at……….$6,950 delivered (anywhere in the US).
    Please call to order.

No those are all one shield. They were given to banks when these came out to help stop counterfeiting.
Most are water damaged from a flood where they were stored.
That is the common one if you can call it that. There are two other colors that the background paper is and those are much rarer.
    I want one so bad.
A real nice one just sold at the Fun that I held in my hands :D

Yeah, I would love to pick one of these up as well.

It would look sweet on the wall of the coin shop. ;)

Many of these get cut up. And yes there are 2 Grant/Shermans on there!
I just drool everytime I see one of these.
I will have one one day!
    I must.

That 15 cent fractional specimen didn't come from a shield FR1272--SP (Specimen-Narrow Margins( now I want the front FR 1273-SP Sherman & Grant(Narrow Margins-Wide Margins are unknown so far .I bought it in an auction held in Australia when 50 cents US =$dollar Australian,I think it has about reversed now with the devaluation of the dollar.

Had that backwards Duke back then if they wanted $100 australian you bid $50 american back then, now if they wanted $100 Australian Dollars today you would have to bid $200 US approx.
So I haven't bidded from them in a few years. But thet keep sending me mail ,you wonder how did that many fractionals make it way down their.

What I meant was you bought it for 1/2 have value based on US and now that the dollar is down you can sell it back to them and they will pay you 4 times what you paid vs their currency...
    Or am I confused?

Gottcha now ! but I want to keep it & get that Grant/Sherman but the prices on them are off the map,or I'm old school pricing before fractional became popular. If I see a Shield I'll keep you in mind (gray?)or anything.

    anything :D

I got a Grant/Sherman but it's brittle and has a peice that flaked off.
Need a good one. The prices on those have fallen off a bit but are still high to get a nice one for the average person.
The Shield is probably #1 on my purchase list as wants. But I'll have to be patient and will be :D

 Connor1, what a nice "back" that is!
The Grant Sherman pair are quite expensive as they were not ever really issued.

    Hey Bob,

Now that I have a couple fractionals in my collection, it really amazes my how cool that shield is! It really is a wonderful piece to own. Do you have it hanging in your home somewhere? As the shield is made up of glued fractionals to a piece of cardboard, are any of them separating from the backing?

Thanks for sharing it with us!

    Best Regards ~ Darryl

I guess I misread the first post. It would be a really neat piece to own! I wonder how many pieces survived from the water damage done in the basement of the BEP? LOL - If I only had $7,000 - $20,000 laying around looking for a new home.
