I've always been wary' of buying ICG Jeffersons, due to the fact' that their grading isn't really comparable to Pcgs , Ngc or Anacs IMO.... But, on this 1939-D Jefferson, I think, they came thru- on their grading,,,,I may kick myself, for saying this, but this just may qualify for an upgrade..:thumb:. Here's photo(s) to show you what I mean... have a nice day! chasindreams
I think that looks like a MS-66/7, but the photographs aren't really clear enough to grade it that accurately.
Hmmmm -better tell NGC and PCGS that then because there sure are a lot of coins that used to be in ICG holders that are now 1 grade higher in the NGC & PCGS holders. Typically that only applies to older coins (like this one) though.
Almost impossible to say from the pics. In general, I have no problem purchasing ICG coins, or any other company for that matter, if I have the coin in-hand to inspect. As far as Jefferson nickels, I have found ICG to be comparable to PCGS and NGC. Since ICG is not as widely accepted in the marketplace, though, I often get these coins for more favorable prices. No argument here.
PCGS will not upgrade this beyond MS67 unless you are a blood relative of the owner. The chances at NGC are no better. Be very happy with the current grade. ICG can go in either direction compared to PCGS or NGC. This grading game can be a big crapshoot.

Looks accurate, But for higher resale would possibly suggest a PCGS holder They seem to draw the bigger dollar when you go to sale
