Also just finished my almost-box ($480) of halves - no keepers.

 

Okay im hooked im going to start keeping all pre 1960 Nickels and pre 1982 Cents I am getting 2 boxes of halves tomorrow and 3 boxes of nickels and 2 penny boxes will post my results by the end of the week.

 

I Was doing the Same.. I have a few 50 Lbs Bags of Pre '82...
It is good to separate them.. Copper from Zinc.. BUT.. KEEP the Later Dates.. There is stall a few '92 Closed AM's out there.. and many Many others Past 1982..
I am now keeping all.. I hate to think about what I MAY have sent back to the Bank...

Why aren't Banks carring the rolls anymore. I went to my WF Bank this morning to make a desposit, asked about penny rools, she stated they just send them to their main Branch instead of keeping them. I called another WF Bank in our town and they have, Pennies, Nickels, Dimes, etc. (?) So I am going by this afternoon to pick up a few penny rolls for my Wheaties collection.

 

Im just going to hoard them for awhile then sell them to someone thats into copper.

 

Halves

Four boxes of halves in the last week and only 1 2005 with a red mark on it. Very dry for a while.

Ok, findings:
Out of 499 - .1cent Pennies, (One was a 1950 1.cent coin from Canada w/the initials "KG" near the leaf). One 1959 "D" ; Two 1969 .1cent, one being an "S" the other a "D." Several 1970 series w/without Marks with One 1970 "S" (Shinny still) and One 1973 "S," (Tarnished) Lastly Four 2009 logcabin pennies. Once I get my collectors Book, I will re examine the other pennies I have to make sure when I exchange my coins of no value, they will actually have no value...

 

I found silver today!!!

Last week was completely dry of any silver finds. I have been shutout not only on 4 straight boxes of halves, but have stopped at at least 15 banks with zero finds.

Today, I stopped by another 6 banks with no finds, and no boxes to search through. SO, I thought I'd try searching my very first box of dimes. I've searched through dime rolls before, but never bought a box all at once.

Well, on roll #50, the last one, I found one silver 1957 Rosie.

At least I found SOMETHING silver.

I also found 5 2009 P dimes (wish they were D's).

 

1 bag of halves found a 2002 and a 2005
also searched 2 bags of dimes found 9 silver dimes

Finally something to report:

I got to two banks outside my general area yesterday. The first one offered me 20$ in halves, but no more. As the teller is counting out the halves, she spots a Frankie and puts it back into her drawer :crying:. No amount of convincing on my part will get her to "part" with it.

However, all of the halves are silver anyway :bigeyes:, so I'm still happy.

Second bank gives me 19$, one '67 and one '74S.

End result: Out of 39$ in halves:

6 90%
35 40%
1 74 S

 

So.. I got my new Microscope (Crappy and Cheap from China ) And since I am burnt out on Banks.. I have been going back over my Morgan & Peace rolls.. Yesterday And Last night I have found Several Nicer VAM's and a HOT50 VAM.. Sweet!!
So Just a heads up.. If you guys are finding these and just putting away into the stockpile.. Make sure your checking for Varieties and Errors.. I would have just had these as Bulk silver .. Now will have a few sent in for Attribution As VAM's...
Today I will hit a Dime Book or Two and see what I find..

 

First of all, Congrats! GREAT finds. Secondly.....I just HATE it when a teller does that. I know they take them anyway, so no problem, but if they haven't already put them away and you ask for them, they should give them up. OK, off the soap box.

I dont save 58 d or 59 d unless thery are in really good shape.
I found a 1936 buffalo last summer, still looking for another.
Also, has anyone found a 2009 Jefferson in rolls ? I go through about $ 20 each week, and yet to find one.

 

I have found a total of one.

I discovered that two of mine were made in 1913, Not of much value I suppose due to there wear but it's neat to know. My referance comes from my Coin BB 1993.

 

So she apparently thinks she is smarter than she is........keeps one and gives you the other 39 or so. you gotta love it.

i've got $1000 in halves waiting....gonig to try and pick them up this afternoon.

 

On my end not to sound like a B! but that teller can be fired for doing that. I would have complained first to her then moved my way upwards if the matter was important enough to do so.

 

I searched two half dollar boxes yeiled squat! Also a bag I found a nice 2002 proof a 1976 proof and a 1968-D and a 1965 at least I found some goodies
