https://www.ebay.com/itm/133906425503 This really got me,why so much?the large cent is a common date in the condition its in around $20.I know sometimes these counterstamps bring big bucks but a $700 difference, what makes the counterstamp so special or is it just a bunch of biditos case.
Good for you, but I think it was a tad bit before your time. Congrats on being the student of cinema most extraordinary, bizarre and extreme.......
https://www.worthpoint.com/articles...ilkins-pittsfield-nh-counterstamp-coin-master He apparently was a bit of a trouble maker at one point. Stamped everything that came across his path, really. Large cents, small cents, matron head, coronet head, flying eagle, Indian head, seated quarters... Heres a New Brunswick cent.
Some counterstamps bring good money. I know the Houck's Panacea counterstamps on Bust halves are very popular, for example. With certain counterstamped coins, it's all about the counterstamp, and the host coin is nothing but the bread the sandwich happened to be made with, if you'll pardon my strange food-related metaphor.
I remember Little Shop of Horrors. I used to hate that movie when I was very little because I was scared of the plant.
It brought that price because it had the (common) Wilkins stamp and the (scarcer) Pittsfield stamp together on the same host coin.
