I am planning (barring some covid related disaster) to attend the London Coin fair which is held on Saturday November 6 a few blocks north of the British Museum. It looks like a good show with some 75 dealers in attendance. I am curious if anyone else is planning to attend. I have a few of these still. I never thought of making more IMG_5023.JPG

I won’t be in attendance, but I like the idea of the badge. I wonder how many fellow CoinTalk members I may have run into at shows and never knew it…

I won't be going to that one, but I will probably go to The Midland Coin Fair in December

Anyone care to send a plane ticket my way? I will happily attend :)
    I haven't been to London since I moved away in 2004. :(
That city is my favorite place on earth. I spent many a Saturday exploring the British museum. I wish I had been seriously into collecting coins at the time.

That's the old Coinex. I used to attend that show in the 1980's, coupled with a visit to my sister in London. It was great fun and I picked up a few nice crowns, which I was collecting at the time.

It's not actually Coinex - that was in September and I managed to go.

The London Coin Fair is 4 times a year - 1st Saturday of February, June, September & November. I've gone a few times but 6th Nov. not looking good as quite busy.

Looks like I am all cleat to go to the show. Passed my second Covid hurdle Have to initiate my third. So far trip has been really good though I had not realized how out of shape I had become with this pandemic shut down. Visited many of the coin shops while here Saw a lot of great coins but picked up only one
Septimius Severus Ae Sestertius Rome 195-196 AD Rv Fortuna standing left RIC 706 Photo from J Vico sept sev.jpg This coin did have some stiff competition from one other but it was always the front runner. I am going to have it shipped so that it will arrive after I am back in Canada

There is a weekly gathering of dealers at Charing Cross, on Saturday. I think it is still being held. Do you plan to attend?

I was there in 2017, in an area that is part of a garage, as far as I can tell. It was a small gathering of dealers selling coins and currencies and other collectables. It was lot fun attending, though the lighting was kind of dim, but I did pick up a couple of coins there.

I would love to go there with another collector and have lunch and a pint somewhere nearby afterwards - maybe in the next life....

I have one. TC gave me one at the last NYINC. I also saw the Harry Potter play.

...It's this much fun to see this many Brits and Anglophone (Fr.: anglophone) Canucks in one place!
I only went to one major show, on the US west coast a couple of decades ago, which was big enough to have really major dealers. Now I can't begin to remember who the one, most memorable, obviously major British dealer was. They had stuff which, at the time, was frightfully expensive, relative to my effectively nonexistent budget. ...Cf. the phrase, 'wish I knew then what I know now.' Except, you could replace the 'knowledge' part with, um, Funds.

Okay I managed to attend the coin show, and I enjoyed it very much. Didn't really buy much mostly books but it was so very nice to be able to converse with other collectors as well as one from CT. @Only a Poor Old Man showed me some nice Byzantine Ae's. However this was the first show and the first real vacay since January 2020. If anyone is interested in doing this show I would say that is is very good and worth attending.
