So if you missed out on the original release I recommend checking it out.

They are priced ~$150 which doesn’t seem so bad for the CC and O privy.

It’s true it is more than the US Mint charges but alot less than EBay is charging.

What’s wrong with it? It’s not too bad when you realize EBay was selling CC Morgans for like $350-$400 just last month.

Considering more than 170,000 were minted and considering there are not that many collectors anymore, the price will go down over time. In any case, I am not collecting these so I will not add to any demand.

Thats fine everyone collects what they enjoy :)

In 1893 there were 400,000 Morgan Dollars minted in San Fransisco which is more than double what these mintages are and yet they in in high demand.

There will always be demand anyway because a lot of people collect Morgan Dollars and don’t want to leave 5 blank spots in their collection.

I still see quite A few coin collectors out there. Not saying these will go up or down but still lots of people like coins .

Well if it helps I can tell you that the “delivery date” is often wrong. Mine said October 19th until this morning when it changed to October 17th so you might get your stuff sooner.

My D & S should come tommorow but like you my P & Peace haven’t been delivered to USPS yet.

Not gonna lie though I bought 2x CCs and 2x Os from JMB so that when everything comes I will have 3 full sets for submission and hopefully I can get an MS70 of each mint/privy. Then I can sell the other 2 sets and hope to make my money back.

If more than 1 of each comes back MS70 I should do pretty well.

I know that MS69 vs MS70 is a tiny difference but when it comes to selling extras they do fetch a premium.

I hope my D and S come sooner . They are sitting In Tennessee still it says. My o and cc are with ups on there way to Boise from Salt lake which there probably at the local ups by now so think tomorrow is safe in those. I have 4 Os and a Cc coming. I only wanted 1 O but the mint site kept crashing and adding a coin when I got back online . I finally gave up and checked out haha. I’m going to see if my local coin shop wants to trade since they have a few things I need

I think they would probably be willing to trade but might not give you much for it.

My dealer is only paying $90 for any of the Morgans which is basically the same price the mint charged after shipping.

The way I see it is if I can’t get a decent price I’ll just hold onto them and hope they go up in value in a few decades.

The only thing I don’t like is that the Mint reserved 17,500 of each Morgan and 20,000 Peace Dollars for big name dealers.

I don’t think being a big name dealer should come with any sort of benefit from the Mint except being able to buy coins without a maximum mintage limit.

It’s one thing to sell them ASEs in bulk but a whole different thing to sell limited mintage coins.

That’s just how I feel about it.

I took a look and on my end it says Presale. Just an edumacated guess, but if I acquired a large hoard of these and was a modern dealer I’d screen for 70’s and the rest I’d price as above.

It would be tough to screen for 70s since it’s really difficult to tell a 69 from a 70.

Plus based on what I’ve seen it looks like about 90% of them are going to grade 70.

Yeah the CC and O are now on pre-sale.

They weren’t originally. I bought 2x CC and 2x O at about 12PM PST today and both have already shipped.

I’m guessing it’s because they sold out of the ones they had on hand.

See what I mean? It didn’t say pre-sale when I got mine.

It’s not tough to screen for 70’s if you know what a 69 is. 90 percent is high, from what I’ve heard the QC on these is not too good so 68’s or less are also in the cards. The dealer flippers will screen, and for the ones going in Bulk orders they’ll ask for the 69’s not to be holdered, thus they’re not counted. So beyond actual reports on quality the pop reports are fairly useless.

    Here’s some I picked out:

    Gam3rBlake Well-Known Member

Yeah but you have to remember that requires first sending them in for grading and putting 70 as the minimum grade accepted.

The ones I bought have already been shipped to me and thus they had no time to send them in to a TPG and have them returned as not 70s.

I hope you get the 70’s but you may have missed my point. 1st you look at the coin physically with your eye balls, If 69’s or less they’re sold raw. If 70 it gets submitted, if tpg disagrees, then submitter can request do not holder.

That was 100,000 1893 S Morgans not 400,000, only about half the mintage of these 2021's. And the 2021's are going to have a nearly 100% survival rate, the 1893 S has a MUCH lower survival rate.

My bad it was a mistake putting 400,000.

You’re absolutely right that it was a mintage of 100,000.

As to the 100% survival rate I beg to differ. Now I may be wrong as this is just speculation but let me explain why I believe that won’t be so and why I believe they might increase in value and justify purchasing them.

First of all is the “time” factor.

For the next few years the survival rate may indeed be 100% but that doesn’t mean it will stay that way decade after decade.

Some will get lost. Others will be damaged in accidents. Things happen. Coins get scratched, dropped, and damaged. All it takes is for a kid to open up the capsule and touch it with bare hands and drop it on the floor and boom it goes from MS69-70 to MS67.

I think in time the MS69 & MS70 coins will decrease in number and incidents like that naturally happen over the years.

Secondly is the collectibility factor. It’s possible that many of these Morgans will be sold overseas to collectors of Morgans meaning the supply will be stretched and it’s not like they’ll be making more.

In fact I’ve read rumors (just rumors but it’s possible) that the Mint will be doing this series on a yearly basis. Based on the fact they sold out in minutes it wouldn’t surprise me. If that happens it’s possible that there might be more people interested in collecting them.

Second is the fact that ALOT of people already collect Morgans and they will need these ones if they don’t want 5 blank spots in their collection.

A lot of people collect Peace Dollars too and the same applies. It would be difficult to be a Peace Dollar collector and not wanting to fill that blank spot.

In the short term it’s very likely that the survival rate will be 99-100% but in the very long term (20-30+ years) it’s also very possible that the demand for them will outpace the supply and lead to a rise in value.

Even with a 100% survival rate they are still some of the rarest Morgan dollars out there.

Heck look how many 1921 P/D & S Morgan’s were minted and there are a lot more than 175,000 still in MS63+ condition yet they still have a $100+ price tag in MS63+ even with the fact that you can buy them by the roll in BU condition.

Damage, scratches, mishandling etc doesn't reduce survival rate. It reduces the rate in the top condition, but not the overall rate. Pretty much only melting them down will reduce the overall rate and unless these things drop down to melt value that probably isn't going to happen to all that many of them

I expect that to be a short term effect of the 100th anniversary and in a few years they will be back down in the $35 to $45 dollar range. Speculations and short term fads are nothing new. I remember back in the first couple years of slabs when MS-65 1881 S dollars were going for close to $1000 each. A few years later they were back down to $50 or less. there are just too many MS-63 1921 Morgans to support a $100 price tag.

Even as some of the rarest Morgans, there are still more of them available that there are serious date/mint collectors. I would not be surprised to see these selling below issue price within less than 10 years. Maybe less than five.

Hello, I'm new to this forum but i have a question for you experts out there. I was fortunate enough to get a 2021 Morgan BU with COA from the US Mint and received it with what looks like to be 2 embedded black dots on the reverse. At first i thought they were black Sharpe marks but i could not remove the marks and they seem to be deep into the coin so I'm thinking its flawed in the source of the metal (ORE) or something got into the coin by mistake when processing it. Either way my question is should i return it and risk not getting a replacement or just keep it and try buying another one that is without the flaw. Thanks.
