The reverse seems to have an inversion of the eagle just below the normal design element. What am I looking at here?
I also notice what looks like a small chip on the middle portion of the left eagle wing and maybe another at top of the bell, below the S of States.
This is a mint set specimen which was photographed through the case. I personally removed the coins in this set from their respective cellophane packaging and placed them in the case. I still have a 59 P & D in the their wrappers as I have no case in which to place them. Paddyman I am leaning your way on this. Absolutely positively not PMD. Still it is a spitting image of the eagle and I believe this element is apparently inverted and (i am about to analyze the specimen now, once more) incuse which would normally be indicative of PMD so that is a natural response.
What would the chip allude to @JPD3? Foreign matter in the striking chamber? There are several chips under STATES it appears.
Meow said PMD because there seems to be a reeded edge looking impact amidst the area below the eagle.
