I found out about this ceremony on Saturday and it was held in the Native American museum in lower Manhattan. The ceremony was about half an hour and several speakers discussed the historical importance of American Native Americans. It ended with a coin exchange. I managed to ask the Mint director Mr Moy to sign my 2009 Presidential dollars box. He was very gracious and obliged me. I'm glad I attended. Most of the Mint's dedication ceremonies are held outside NY where I cannot attend.
Fantastic! I never attended one of these. Great that Moy signed an autograph for you! I wonder how much value that will have later.
Nice! Do you have a pic of the coin you got in the exchange to post? or a pic of Moy's signature on your box? Too bad you didn't post the info you learned on Saturday until after today's event for the other locals. Sounds like it was an interesting dedication at a very good venue, despite having to contend with today's weather.
I will try to post the pic of the 2010 Sacagawea and the signature. Although I exchanged $100 at the coin exchange as well. I have said this several times but the 2010 reverse design is among the best they've done. Yes I should have posted a thread here about it. I learned about it through a CoinNews late day email. The weather was horrendous --- high winds and torrential rain all day long.
The Sac was just a regular coin. What he signed for me was the COA from a 2009 Presidential Proof Set.
