I bought a large collection of world coins I've been sorting for a couple of months and some of the Chinese pieces really throw me for a loop. The collection was assembled in the 1950's-1970's and the vast majority of what I've found I have believed to be authentic. I ran across this piece tonight and believe it is a 1906 Chekiang 2 cash, but all the other examples I've seen have a central circle on the side with the characters- but this one does not. Maybe I am identifying this coin wrong. Could anyone help or offer up an explaination? I also have a bunch of holed cash I have not tried to ID yet, so maybe you fine folks could help me with that also, or at least tell me if any are better then the run of the mill super common ones, or worth individually selling.
It looks like a Tai Ching Ti Kuo 2 cash coin but I can't find one that doesn't have a legend on the side of the dragon. Still looking
Those 10 and 20 cash coins are much bigger than this coin. I'm pretty confident this is a 1 or 2 cash coin, but I'm pretty sure its 2 cash.
Yeah I just tweaked my post. It's a 2 cash. I was reading too fast. EDIT: here this is better https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide...-cash-y-8-1905-1906-cuid-1046000-duid-1288195
I didn't get the pictures of the cash coins until just now. I think the ones on the top row with the "=" on the reverses are Korean 2 Mun. That being said, I don't have any and have only seen a few pictures so I could be off. Not sure what the other 2 larger coins are. Possibly Korean too? The others all look to be fairly common. Here are a couple of good sites that FFIVN and I use to ID cash coins: https://www.calgarycoin.com/reference/china/china8.htm#chien lung http://www.sportstune.com/chinese/coins/idpage.html
The C? is Korean 5 Mun. The reverse / obverse are switched compared to the others. Top photo shows the reverse, bottom the obverse.
Thank you! That helps me start to narrow some to see if I can get some dates identified or ranges at least. Thanks for pointing that out. To be honest, they all look similar enough to me I wasn't sure how to lay them out. I have about 2-3x more of these than just the ones in the photo, so getting some ideas and pointers are helpful.
