I picked up a group of British Empire Exhibition 1925 medals the other day. I found it difficult to research these - there are many different varieties and Google kept taking me to other coin forums, so I thought a thread here would be an improvement. The best two I have here are these: 1. Lion head, Art deco style port reverse, approx 27mm diameter. This one might be silver according to the sliding magnet test. (I have it in copper as well, but much less clear.) 2. Hermes Head, ship and crane reverse, approx 27mm diameter. This one is Nickel - strongly magnetic. (I also have this one in copper.) There is a third design, which I have seen many more times before, with the seated figure and Nobel Industries reverse, but this is in scruffy condition. Share if you have others.
Wow, Paddy, like the silver one. And always liked the design, I know I have a copper version about somewhere.
I guess the combination of "British" and "Empire" makes this thread supremely un-woke and unfashionable! This is a better example of the Nobel version, which I found I had in stock. These seem to be the most common on Ebay and elsewhere. Measures about 36mm across:
For completeness, these are the two copper versions of the original silver/nickel versions. Does anyone have any others to share?
