Good afternoon all I put this coin in my CRH thread but incase anyone misses it as it’s hard to picture I thought I would post a thread all on its own. I have no idea why anyone would decide to do this to either a wheat cent or a mercury dime but they did and it’s terrible the front is a 1942 merc dime that mucky of been ground down and the reverse is a wheat cent which I have no idea of the year and has also been ground down. It’s a shame as it’s probably only worth half its original weight in silver now lol. These are usually made to be a magicians coin. Oh look I can turn this penny into a dime type of thing. A novelty, but silver also.
Is that a small lamination just above the date. On the positive side, be thankful your dime is not a 41/42 overdate.
I would think finding something like that would be pretty cool, I have found a two heads 1950s nickel that I only saved because I turned it over before flipping it into the back to the bank bag. This is the worst coin I have found CRHing: Gave me the creeps when it came out of a CWR several years ago. I don't care for these things, I included it in a lot of German coins from roll searches that I sold.
I was very thankful it wasn’t the 41/42 overdate, it would of been a completely different and sad thread if it had been lol. Unsure on any lamination but will investigate further now you have pointed it out, many thanks for the possible heads up
That would of been a great find, I would love to find a genuine double heads coin or double tails to be honest, maybe one day I will. Yes that coin certainly beats mine in the worst coin found department lol. Not something I would want to own either so I would of done the same as you. each to their own I suppose regarding what they keep in their collections
