I was going through some old boxes and I opened one that I packed 20-21 years ago. Not much of interest and I recycled a lot but I did keep this. I forgot I had it. A souvenir from the Zippo Lighter factory. An interesting tour and a great piece. I’ve never seen one of these anyway in all my years. The cent is a 2000, the year I went. The reverse case reads: “The CENT never spent to repair a Zippo product”.
that is super cool! i love it. no idea on value, but I can almost guarantee a dedicated zippo collector (of which there are many) would be heavily interested in that.
I did a thread on Feb 2017 on a few I found.. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/encased-cents-zippo-lucky.290648/ I think I paid $1.00 each
Not really! Years ago I belonged to the Zippo Collectors Group and they had members only lighters but the penny has been their slogan for many years.
I don’t care if the coin is a WAM or anything else. I didn’t know about the penny being their slogan for years either. To me it’s special just as it is. A souvenir. And the tag is attached. It’s as fresh and crisp as the day it was made. Absolutely mint condition and I’ve never seen another so complete. Thought everyone would enjoy it.
