About noon came our mail just like clock work . I was .. what else.. Napping ! After I woke up I noticed on the kitchen table a letter that looked familiar even though I didn't have my glasses on. It was an envelope from @lordmarcovan . In it was this beautiful nearly perfect Mint State condition 1955s Penny !! Thanks David and all those that wished me a Happy Birthday . I will always cherish it and remember this B-day forever .
Sweet LWC @SensibleSal66 This is becoming more deja vu every day @lordmarcovan , kudos to you for your unending philanthropic gestures.
I know,I know . I messed up and I'm so so sorry . I confused Robertson with David ( AKA @hotwheelsearl ).
It's not too late! You can edit out the original mistake! Get to it before "David" sees, and realizes you stink!
(Not you! @SensibleSal66 messed a few names up in his rush, it happens to all of us, but i caught it, and I'm messing with him! But please don't tell him, I'm having way too much fun! No name usedeth in vain, i promise )
So cool...congrats and a belated HB-day! Can't see it close enough in photo but looks pretty good...think it would grade 68 with either of the big 2...? Might be worth a try for a potential $10K yield. Even at 67 it's $125-$150 or so.
I'm not competing, no competition, just sharing. Another example of how generous @lordmarcovan is This (and several other things) were included in a prize shipment, but they weren't the prize. They were included because of a slight "delay" in shipment. I secretly hope it's because he knew I'd squeal like a school child when i saw, lol. Still in cello and absolutely gorgeous. As always, my lord, your generosity is unrivaled, well, maybe the QuarterMaster gives away more cold hard cash, but you're a very close second .
FWIW, I just thought the “David” thing was addressed to someone else who’d also wished Sal a happy birthday. I didn’t have much in the way of 1966 material, so since this birthday was the big 55 for him (which also happens to be my own age until the tail end of December), that ‘55-S cent seemed the natural choice.
No, I know who Peter is. Sort of. Oh- Sal, since you’re in CT (as in Connecticut, not CoinTalk), there was a 1935 Scott #772 Connecticut Tercentenary stamp used as part of the postage on your envelope. Hope it stayed on for the whole ride. The 86-year-old original gum adhesive seemed to work just fine when I stuck it on there. BTW, I wonder if the Charter Oak was still alive in 1935? Our Lover’s Oak here is allegedly 900 years old, and still going. (It can be seen around the 1:12 mark in one of my dig videos.) Edit: nope. I see the Charter Oak fell in a storm in 1856. Its fame survives, though, having been on two US coins as well as that stamp.
I'd just like to make this perfectly clear, @SensibleSal66 and i are buds! We break each other's chops but that's only because we luv each other. We actually PM almost every day to see how we're doing. I think Sallymagooch is one of a kind, and i couldn't be happier to make his acquaintance, here, along with so many others. This post wasn't directed at you @lordmarcovan, i just figured i could jump your momentum there and tag along. My sense of humor takes a bit getting used to but i hope everyone gets what Sal and i are up to. There's no malice there at all.
