1947 Jefferson Nickel lamination?

Ok I know this nickel has some lamination but I am not sure why Jeffersons head looks the way it does. It looks like a interior die break mixed with detached lamination. I'm at a loss on this.

This is off-topic but I couldn't help but notice how the top of Monticello looks like a little face!

 

I like that it has a lot of pocket wear
All I really see is the lamination, There seems to be a small piece missing but most of it is still retained. It looks like it goes over to the ST of trust.

 

I think is just a lamination error and that the wear on the nickel is causing what you think is an IDB. Being as old as it is and bring so close to the rim has pretty made it break away and that wear gives the impression it’s something else when it’s not.

 

Possible defect planchet from the get go?

 

A lamination error is considered a Planchet defect error. Not a Striking or a Die type.

 

Easy to see the lamination but not the IDB! Where do you see it with coin in hand?

 

What is an IDB? I tried to look it up on the internet and found nothing.

It kinda looks like one above Jeffersons head that was there but had lamination that came off at some time. It's probably just a mixture of wear and my eyes playing tricks on me.
