Please vote for your favorite 1942-P Jefferson War Nickel from the group below: 1) A dramatically toned raw GEM. 2) A rainbow toned NGC MS65 3) A toned NGC MS67 5FS 4) A blast white NGC MS67 6FS Please vote in the attached poll. Comments Welcome!
I couldn't vote. You need more catagories. Like: None of the above All of the above Don't like Jefferson Nickels Collect them all but don't like them Didn't know they were Nickels And you didn't specify which WAR.
The first example is my vote. The strike is superb, and the rainbow toning makes this example simply spectacular.
I really love the ice blue, fully lustrous look of the NGC 67, #3. Beautiful coin. Runner up would have to be the raw one - I just can't get excited about the other two (ugly hazy toning on the first, blast white boring on the second).
Just to bust your chops a little.....the US has only been involved in one war since the Jefferson came out. All those little scuffles like Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf etc. were never declared "wars".
I go with number three. IMO it has the nicest eye appeal out of the four, and that would be the coin I would welcome into my collection with arms wide open! All very beautiful coins Paul
I voted 3. I like the icy blueish purplish toning on the coin. My runner up is 2. I like the colors more on it than I do coin 1. I would also have to choose the 4th one next. I dont know why, but the toning on coin 1 just doesn't appeal to me, and thats not because it is a raw coin. LouieLot
Not sure what the voting criteria of the poll is in regards to, other than eye appeal, so with that, I go with the toned NGC MS67 5FS.
