I think that NT is obvious. The coin looks to be MS, but could also have a slight rub if more closely examined, it's hard to say from pics.

    I love WLHs

Looks MS65 from those photos, but that toning pattern and color scheme is not my cup of tea. I like the hand detail and the reverse seems to have good luster. The photos are really too small to make a definitive judge of grade but my first impression of the overall appearance of the coin said gem to me.

I am very discerning when buying toned WLH's. To this day, I still have not found one that I am satisfied with representing my type set. Here is my current type set Walker. I have debated selling this coin from the day I bought it. The problem is that I can't find one better.

Are you going to reveal what grade you thought it was when you bought it?

Attractively toned Walkers are notoriously hard to find. Much searching, much patience, combined with much money, are usually required. Here is a 1943 PCGS 66 Walker that I just bought yesterday from Mark Feld - and it has everything you could ever hope to find in a Walker.

It seems like I am drawn to collect coins that are hard to find with attractive toning... Something about the search/chase... Now that the Toned Peace $ set is almost complete I am looking at either a short set WLHs or short set Buff Nickel toned set.

I also have a toned Lincoln, Jeff and Ike set going as well. Lots of coins, hard to complete though !!

I have a beautiful rainbow rim toned 46-S WLH that I bought raw and NGC graded MS63* -- I love star coins.... that is the start of this new set...

The above coin was only $32.00 raw so if it is a MS example I cant lose. If its anything higher than a 63 I got a winner...

It would help to have a little larger photos in order to guess a grade. I would say MS65 based on these photos and I find the toning acceptable although a bit darker than I generally like. I also find the band of white (untoned) on the reverse interesting and likely evidence of NT.

Larger photos might reveal wear on the Eagle breast (I am assuming a soft strike although the 42 generally has a pretty good strike).

By the way, I like Physics Fan and Paul's Walkers both. I think with Walkers, if you place too much emphasis on toning, you will miss out on some good examples. These are not Morgan Dollars, Jefferson Nickels or even Franklins. Doesn't mean there aren't some beautiful toned Walkers but the beauty of the series is first and foremost the design. If toning is your point of emphasis, like Paul's, it will be a frustrating series to collect. Or at least one requiring a lot of patience.:desk::headbang:

Fratt - beautifully toned Walkers are out there. But they are very hard to find, and will cost a lot of money. As long as you know that going into the set, there shouldn't be any problems. You will have an amazing set when you are done.

    I want this one.

IIRC, this was an MS65 sold by Anaconda a few years back.

That one is crazy! I saw exactly 3 gorgeously toned Walkers at FUN, including a 1947 NGC 66*. The thing had amazing album toning, rainbow concentric circles, and luster that blew me out of the water. Problem was, they wanted $1200 for it and I didn't have anywhere near enough.

    Nice strike , toning looks nice , I'd guess MS-65 .

No offense but that just doesnt look right. Even if God himself told me how this coin toned naturally like this I wouldnt believe him and would pass on it.

I never like wildly toned coins. I really do prefer the more subtle album rim toning with luster filled centers.

This is one of my favorite toned Peace $ NGC MS65*

LeHigh that is cool but I would have thought it was AT also.
But you know more about that then me.
What makes you and the TPG think it's NT?
    Thanks

I never said it was NT, just that it was graded. I am more liberal with my acceptance of AT coins than most. My only requirement is that the coin is beautiful and graded. The second part very important because it becomes the insurance policy that protects the premium.

I see your point. And it makes sense. Thanks
