When I was a kid in the mid 70s I was given a handful of Panama Balboas. I kept them loose in a 2x4 manilla envelope and last saw them in 1978 when we moved. At the same time I had accumulated a few old Canadian coins and put them in a different envelope. Also last seen in 1978. Today I found those 2 envelopes and opened them.....
Nice find. On rare occasions I'll 'find' something I lost. Hoping my memory is added to the list. I'm not foreign coin savvy. Are there any ones of value in those lots?
Manila seems to hold a good bit of sulfur. Not too surprising to see terminal toning after all that time.
Funny thing is that these little envelopes are what the LCS used to put my newly acquired wheaties in. I'm particularly surprised about the "ring of black" on the Canadians.... I've never seen anything like that before. Other envelopes with silver fared much better. Thankfully, nothing too valuable here.... just interesting.
soaked all night in xylene + 5 second dip. Nothing terribly exciting but I do kind of like how the 1/2 now looks...
