I'll toss out another proposal, as long as we're in brainstorm mode. Nothing against your suggestion vrt, just another idea.

I suggest a "my note has XXX in common with your note" game, where we aren't necessarily going for the most amazing note, but you would follow up one person's post with a banknote that somehow had something in common with it - a common design, common artist, common color - whatever might be fun. You'd of course have to state what the two notes had in common, so the rest of us would know what it was. No scoring or winners with this option.

After reading through all the posts I like your idea the best so far, but I am also for: 1) Keeping it simple, 2) Post what you have, 3) Let the dust settle and 4) Enjoy.

CC2OGold, Those old Notes are awesmome! I have a few $2 Notes I collected for my kids, but they of course are not like anything like what you have. Neat.

 

Just one ,not of any great real $ dollar value but a keepsake.
A neighbor of my wifes & I put this $100 FRN 1934 away when her brother became a Catholic Priest in the 1940's he has passed away and before she pass my wife & I would help her do her day to day things & she gave it to us & told us this story,so to us it's priceless.

Awesome! It can't be that the collecting of coins makes coin collecting what it is, but even so, where would it be without the stories? You are right C-1 PRICELESS!

My proposal for the Game "Post your most prized Note from your collection"

1. Note types and denominations will be assigned for the contest prior to the start of each contest.

2. Length of Contest 2 weeks or 3 weeks to provide ample time to have folks submit.

3. You can only post a note 1 time in each contest.

4. You can post no more than 3 notes in your single post. If you own the entire Series of a notes printings, then you may be allowed to post the entire series. Example 1934, 34A, 34B, 34C, 34D...

5. Winners will be determined by players or a general population vote.

6. Do you want grade catagories or shall it be open?

7. The Winner of the contest shall organize the next contest and post it.

8. You must own the Note and be able to prove ownership.

9. I will suggest that folks use www.photobucket.com as a posting vehicle as it image size restriction are much better than the forums.

10. We will need the support of a Moderator to lock the threads after they have been won.


If any other ideas are out there, please submit them here.

Guy's...

A while back I had PM'd Peter and Doug on having a "Best of Coin Talk" Paper Money Award and after discussing this with them we all agreed on one thing.

That agreement was based on the fact that some folks may have deeper pockets than others and that it would not be a fair thing to do and could possibly make some feel...well lets just say not to good .
I agreed not to do this so I am withdrawing the idea of this competition and hope it is not brought up again (at least from me) I apologize for bringing this Thread up on the Forum. Please except my regrets and consider this null and void.
If you would like to post your collection in total we can always start a "My Collection Thread" since CoinTalk is limited to 20 images per post, it may take a while before someone gets finished so..if you want, please feel free to do this.
