Cuba Note in Puerto Rico - 1 Peso 1896

    Hello eveyone,
    This thread was created from the beautiful island of Puerto Rico.. Yes I am on vacation :cool:

    I went to a shop in a mall that sell sports cards and memorabilia. They had a small section of coins and paper currency. They had a NGC attributed 1942/41 Mercury Dime but the price tag was $700.00 :confused:

    I purchased this neat UN PESO from Cuba

    For a very brief period after the US took possession of Puerto Rico some banknotes were issued very similar to US National Banknotes:

    Here is a reverse proof from a note that was issued in 1909 by the Banco de Puerto Rico. Even these proofs are quite scarce now, but the issued notes were called in and destroyed by the early 1920s and very few examples still exist.
