Here is one for you. That is a nice looking 1925, but why is that there. Oh! No returns, but PayPal does cover it for your full purchase price. I wonder if the lister knows that. Just to make sure, "TARNISH REMOVAL WAS UTILIZED TO ENHANCE EYE APPEAL, DETAIL, AND TO ASSIST IN IDENTIYING THE MISSING "D." http://cgi.ebay.com/1922-D-WEAK-D-R...mQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item439cd8bcfb
Unbelievable!! The guy must be a real case with some deep seated mental issues, that would be my professional diagnosis anyway. Prognosis: some ppl never change!!
WOW! Almost feel sorry for the guy - look's like he got took too. Anyway, no place for something like that on eBay. Even if it where authentic, would it be worth 95K? Did you refer his other two also? The ones for two rolls of OBW 69-s’s for 135K & 110K? lol http://cgi.ebay.com/ONE-1969-S-OBW-ORIGINAL-LINCOLN-MEMORIAL-CENT-BANK-ROLL_W0QQitemZ290387602005QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item439c732a55 http://cgi.ebay.com/ONE-1969-S-OBW-ORIGINAL-LINCOLN-MEMORIAL-CENT-BANK-ROLL_W0QQitemZ290377893892QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item439bdf0804
But then again: http://cgi.ebay.com/1878-S-MS-PROOF...mQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item439ccfaac8 He may just be clueless.
http://shop.ebay.com/gmdllrsncnts/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340 I am still new at this, but did he make a mistake on the $350.00, should it be $350,000.00?
The answer to your original question may be both. Could be a joke though but am glad to hear you reported it. TC
Personally - I think it is an idiot listing by an idiot. Isn't this the same seller that used to price a roll based off something like the PCGS grading guide - like PCGS said a MS69 was worth like a $1000 so the roll was worth $50000.
Quoting from the listing: "THIS COIN IS CONFIRMED UNCERTIFIABLE AND QUESTIONABLY AUTHENTIC" Oh, brother!
An EBay Spoof? I suspect that if you were able to discuss these auctions with the seller, you would find that he has a sense of humor. It would be logical if the seller after viewing http://www.usrarecoininvestments.com/coin_articles/lincoln_cents.htm decides to extrapolate on a seemingly ludicrous valuation schedule. If a "top tier" certifier would place such an evaluation on a singular coin, what is the value of a higher grade coin? A possibility of multiples in a roll, possibly even 49 if the end coin isn't an "error". I deem the auction legitimate, without fraud, and if the offering were listed with a prominent auctioneer, may even command the price requested. I believe, if listed in a different venue, many would think the auction "normal". I have an entire bag of unopened 1969-S cent mint rolls, which I purchased in 1969. Another "opportunity"!! Better yet, I have an entire bag of unopened 1968-S cent mint rolls, a lower mintage coin, which was the first date of San Francisco cent reintroduction. If the error was found on 1969-S cent coins, and hasn't yet been found on the "better date", can you imagine the possible "value" of an uncirculated error roll, and possible opportunities? Any "investors" in this possibly profitable venture? I'm constantly contacted to consign for major international auctions. I wonder if it's too late for an Unc. unopened 1968-S and 1969-S cent roll consignment to the "Official Auction of the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Baltimore Expo"? LOL
