Good afternoon all I was really happy to finally receive my coin set from the mint. Lol I can’t edit the post, busy is what I meant. Hence the typo! These only just arrived today and went on sale early September if I remember correctly. Just happy they finally arrived and look in very good shape with no issues that I could see from the quick look I had at them.
That’s annoying, I was looking at it everyday since I got the tracking number and getting frustrated when there were no updates. I hope the package arrives soon
They apply the tracking number sometimes several days before it actually ships. Then they can say they did their part.
Received my set today and while the packaging quality sucks compared to previous sets, I couldn't be more pleased by the quality of the coins I received. For the only two examples of SAEs I buy this year, these look flawless to me. I'm happy I held out for this offering.
Apparently the $175 wasn't enough to cover the kind of packaging we have seen in the past. But, these are coins that should have been given better display packaging. Glad I got them as my ASE collection is now complete.
You can always get some of the old set packaging and move them over. Realistically so much of the packaging just ends up in the trash anyways its good they cut back on it
Absolutely correct. I think of how much space I could save if I trashed the packaging. This is just a small part of my packaging issue.
I cant even imagine how bad that issue is with you keeping everything in the packaging. It just takes up sooooo much extra space. I'm pretty sure I filled an entire recycling bin when I moved everything out of it and then the coins all would have fit in a small drawer. The limited silver sets I would leave in it, but for the most part other than things like that I take it out of there.
Give me thoughts on this. I don't plan to ever sell this stuff, but, I am sure my children will. Does the packaging make a big difference in the salability of these?
It really depends what it is., it can but generally no. A normal ASE not really as an example. There are things it can though like the Mayflower gold set the British version carries a premium, the numbered sets if its a really low number on the COA that would too, same with the signed COA. The limited silver proof sets I would also leave in that as those can have a premium. A lot of the time people either send it to be graded or put it in an album where the packaging wouldn't make a difference.
Do proof silver eagles still come in the nice felt jewelery style boxes or did they switch them over to recycled altoids tins?
They come in the cheap boxes. They have a felt lining and the slot to stand the coin for display, but, they are not the Jewelry type.
Earlier on I stated that I am done with the US Mint products. I may have to get a 2022 mint set as I just found out that Great Grandchild number 22 is due next year.
