I recently purchased these along with some other silver coins and I have a few questions. They are 1921 “S” and 1892 “O”. 1. Should I try and clean them and if so, how? I certainly don’t want to damage the value. 2. Is the 1921 one of the “hot lips” variety? According to my 2018 coin guide, it appears to me that it is. Thanks in advance for any and all help!! David
They both look to have been cleaned already. Both obverses are showing dark halo's around the lettering and shiny elsewhere.
Good for you, leave them alone. The dates are pretty common, no reason to try make a dollar out of 15¢!
I have to agree they are both beautiful the way they are any cleaning or even dipping could only lower their value
If you do anything to try and make them look better you will destroy any value down to junk prices. Leave them be.
Circulated silver shouldn't be cleaned, makes them look unnatural. Nice pieces of Americana. I'm unfamiliar with a 1921 hot lips variety, I thought that was an 1888 thing. But others may know more.
