Can you reveal the Owner . That sometimes matters from my experience . ;)
I voted $2400- $3000 bu it depends on the seller or current owner .

I am gonna have to wait a bit for the price maybe just a little longer than a GTG. Might Eye it again tomorrow. And wait for the reveal till Monday.

I am not a big fan of coins that left the mint "assisted" cool looking but not obtainable.

These are two entirely different questions.

What would I pay? Somewhere in the low range of the poll (the $200-400 bracket).

What is the pricetag? I suspect on the high end of the poll. (I voted the $2,400-3,000 bracket).

This is not to say I don't find it to be a really cool piece- I do. It's just that my personal interest in it would not exceed 400 bucks' worth or so. I'm not an error/variety guy, though I do have a couple of pieces in my collection, like this.

I fully realize that for this reason, I'd be unlikely to ever acquire it, since there would be so many other people ready to pay a lot more for it.

In the wider marketplace, it's a four-figure piece for sure. Gotta be.

"Def Dam" is @paddyman98's trademark catchphrase for "definitely damaged" (i.e., not an error).

This coin plainly IS an error. Quite a dramatic one, in fact.

No doubt, we are in the same boat. one thing though, I am not sure this was assisted, anomaly yes.
If I saw this and it was close to what I had in my pocket, I could say sold.

If you saw the luster on this piece, you would /should quickly run from that derogatory word . lol!

You're the one who brought it up by saying "Def Dam". I didn't. I never said a word about it being damaged.

Edit- wait, no, sorry. It was @alurid who said "Def Dam".

I can agree with you there. I'm into that 1723 British sixpence D/S error (linked to above) for around $500. If this coin could've been had in that price range (or a little less), I might have been interested, though it doesn't have the added charm of being a colonial-era piece from the early 18th century. To me, it's still just a Memorial cent. Albeit a very cool, major error Memorial cent.

There were some charging $150 to $400 for a AU/MS broad strike.
Not even a well centered one.
Prices have definitely changed. Noticed that Monster and bag toned Morgan's have dropped. At least that is what I was seeing.
    25% or more.

Wonder if that means the capacity for producing new ones has caught up to demand? :troll:

I don't collect items such as this.
    Why no $0-199 category?

I’ve seen photos and read an article about this coin before. I just can’t remember when or where. I B do remember it was definitely considered an error. I think his asking price is on the highest end.

Well, this is just me, but I don't get it...nor any of this fanatic-like error trend that seems to have taken over much of numismatics, CRH, etc, etc...and esp for the youth/beginners...many of whom think that's all it's about or encompasses. Sorry, but $0 "price tag" to/for me. To each their/your own.
