Um, he is a senior grader, (sorry @Insider do not know your official title), at a major TPG. I would trust his opinion on authenticity sir.

Not that my opinion matters, but I thought the same thing (face wrong, necklace completely wrong, feather wrong, etc).

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The only thing I don't like is when a somewhat rare or historic coin is mutilated into jewelry. Common coins can actually look pretty decent when cut up/carved into jewelry. Older, historic coins being cut up/carved is a loss for history.

The design of the Indian looks like "play money."

So if someone said I will give you an ounce of gold if you chop off your foot for me, would you do it? Even if they said your pet cat's foot? 5 ounces of gold?

Of course not! so the value of metal is not worth putting great feelings into whether someone is melting it down, altering it , or wearing it, or as some people do eat gold flakes. Others put alternative coin designs on original old coins and many people love them with no regrets for the previous coins history. Life moves on.

I don't really like coin jewelry! This isn't actually jewelry, it's a key chain, but it shows why I don't like it!! I think it often ruins a beautiful coin!!

How about some buckles? I didn't make them, just found in garage sales. I have worn the two dollar one since the 1970's. big dollar buckle.jpg Back of Big Dollar Buckle.jpg Ike Dollar buckle.jpg Ike Dollar Buckle Rear.jpg My Normal Buckle.jpg

I was just messing around. It means, no it’s not my thing. But if others like them? Then so be it. No big deal.

You are correct. Now I don't consider you to be a phony snob like me any more.

PS Thanks for the French lesson.

Well a 1929 half eagle is well over $10,000, and even if it was a common date just the gold content would be $438. With a price of $210, what do you think the changes are of the coin being real? Or even made of gold?
