2010 cent

I just saw this on eBay. I'm not gonna bid, nor am I advocating anyone else to, but I didn't hear that the new coins were out yet. When were they first issued?

EDIT: I thought Lincoln was not going to be on the new cents!?!?

Yeah, They're supposed to be out now and that's the new design. But WOW, ten bucks a roll!!! Guess some want to be the first to have them.

 

Yes, Lincoln is still there for 2010 and beyond. The only thing that is changed is the reverse (although the portrait of Lincoln did get motified a little to match the 1909 original). No need to buy these, as you have all year to get them at your bank/stores, etc.

 

OH.....I just looked again and they have sold. $49 for $2.50 of pennies. WOW. People are crazy!

 

I have not seen any but do have my trusted bank tellers on high alert. It was not my first choice, but I do like the design. Didn't some of the first 2009 nickels or dimes come from that same bank in Puerto Rico as well? TC

Yes, Puerto Rico is where Manny found all those 09 nickels and made a fortune. Looks like this guy will do the same with the cents. He says he got a 100 roll bag.

 

Not sure where you got that idea. But the bust WAS supposed to be a return to Brenners original design and relief. (It was supposed to be a return to the original artwork last year too.) Didn't happen last year and from what I see in that eBay auction we didn't get it this year either.

 

Puerto Rico is an odd place for them to go first. I guess a lot of their change comes back up here and they need to replace it a lot.

 

I guess I got it from all of the different designs that were floating around. For some reason I thought it was going to be the shield and Senate on the other side.

 

I'm not too much in favor of the design myself. There were much better ones up for bid. I'm a guy who likes buildings on coins though. Just my personal preference.

Yeah, buying current-year coinage before the year is out is usually a losing proposition.

 

The new Cent isn't supposed to be out until Feb 11 at the launch ceremony in Springfield Il. I will be there!!!!!

 

I will also sell many of the rolls that I get from the launch on ebay for large profits. I am a collector but if the demand is their I will sell for what ever people will buy them for. I don't think it is a bad thing.

 

Manny has a 100 roll bag of cents already?

 

They will be having a ceremony, but I'm not finding anything official about it being the release of the cents or the first day of issue. Apparently they have already been released and they are just going to have a ceremony about it on the day before Lincolns birthday.
