I have never owned a denarius of Valerian. To the best of my knowledge, neither has anyone else. Link?

I remember that one. FORTVNA REDVX with Mercury holding a purse shaped more like a bell than usual. I bought it in 2016 from the late Don Zauche making the coin I had for the shortest time before selling. I bought it because RIC 214 attributed it to Viminacium but I honestly don't recall why it went into the surplus pile. I know I had too many Valerian through Probus coins so I sold several that failed to thrill me, I guess. I have been known to be fickle.

Yes, it does hurt me when folks confuse antoniniani denarii. I'm also good with 'double denarius' which I believe is the current fad. We really have no idea what the things were called back then.

well, i would never do it to cause you pain Doug..i'll endeavor to be more precise in the future:vulcan::smuggrin:..(and i like 'double denarius', altho i don't feel that is correct for antoninianus either..perhaps i'll start calling them, 'small silver coins :))

I think having a sale area just for ancient coins is an excellent idea. The owners of the site clearly don't have a problem with selling, or they would not have a selling area at all. But they do. There is a very strongly-written disclaimer, and that's fine. Why not have an Ancients-only selling area with that same strong disclaimer? I think it would really help a lot of members here.

I was not aware of the sale page either. However, I joined for the exchange of ideas, finds, observations and the general supportive aspects of the site. We not only collect coins, we collect friends especially those we only meet here. Cheers to all.
