Cool article about Etruria / Rasenna genetic origins. Language does not always mean genetic differences. https://www.sciencealert.com/dna-ha...il&utm_term=0_fe5632fb09-2745574741-365978301 Post your coins of Etruria! Etruria, Arretium(?). The Chiana Valley, circa 208-207 BC. Æ quartunica (18x20 mm, 4.9 gm, 5h). Obv: Head of African, right; border of dots. Rev: Indian elephant standing right, bell hanging under neck; monogram below. Border of dots. BMC Italy, p. 15, #18. SNG Copenhagen 48 var. (no monogram on obv.). See CNG coin shop inventory #828457 for some details. However, this example seems to have lettering above the elephant Ω Α Ι and nothing similar found on the "usual" search sites.
Thanks for sharing a very interesting article @Alegandron and your 20-asses is a wonderful coin. One day I would like to pick up some of thegold and silver coins attributed to the Etruscans. I only have a humble little bronze from Etruria. Etruria AE 15, uncertain inland mint, weight 3.144g, maximum diameter 15.1mm. Obv: youthful head of Herakles right, wearing Nemean lion scalp headdress. Rev: dog leaping left, Etruscan letter (reversed C) below.

Hansen I cannot say that this is the earliest coin or the nicest from this series, however though I was never particularly interested in the series I did like this coin. It spoke to me. What is interesting about this coinage is, how different it is to what is being struck in contemporary Magna Graecia. This coinage does appear to resist the artistic blandishments of the Greek numismatic world.

Interesting, panzerman. I don't remember seeing that type before. At a quick enough glance, it could be mistaken for one of the Boii and/or Carnutes AVs of larger module (quarter stater, c. 1.8g, through stater, c. 7.5g ). (Similar types may have been struck by multiple Celtic groups?) For those, of course, the X isn't a denomination mark as on the Etrurian. https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=130237 https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=4034846 Ahhh, that's where it went...I wanted that one!!!
