1968 PL Roosevelt ( regular strike)

Discussion in 'US Coins Forum' started by Jessica Cioffi, Sep 26, 2021.

  1. Does anybody know the value of a 1968 PL Roosevelt dime. I found one at PCGS website PL67+, but the coin has not being sold yet. Maybe Mine will be the first one. Yours is not a MS67 nor a PL . From what I can see from your Pictures , I don't even know how yours compares to the example .

It's hard to tell from the picture but I think your coin does have some PL attributes. Experience tells me it won't be enough to grade PL but I could be wrong. It's also difficult to grade from the picture. And then the coin has hazing as well.

If you already know how to remove the haze with acetone then do so. If you don't have experience with it then leave it along and get some better pictures. Coins can be ruined in any attempt to improve their appearance and PL surfaces are among the most fragile.

A lot of '68-P dimes are at least a little PL; (~.2%)(2 per 1000) of mint set coins. Getting the PL grade requires a lot of PL so don't get your hopes up.

I don't understand how a coin could be considered PL when there is so much detail missing. It almost looks like a weak strike. What is the standard?

Sorry, but no, in my opinion.

Just curious as to what you see that leads you to believe your dime is PL? Could you elaborate?

PL has nothing to do with detail.

This man has a lot of experience and knows his clad-era coinage inside and out. The "cladking" username there is not mere hype. I used to correspond and trade coins with him nearly 30 years ago, before the Internet was even a thing.
