I've never posted a GTG post before, but I have a reason for this one. I bought this half dollar off of ebay and for the first time ever, I am questioning the grade on the slab. So I'll let you guys tell me what you think it should be. And, while you're at it, tell me what you think the slab probably says. I think at least some of you will know immediately which company graded it. As always, I apologize for the quality of the image. I took about 20 pictures before I got these and in the end had to use my cell phone to get something I think is at least usable.

    I'll post the answer tomorrow.

    Thanks!

Not good enough photos for me to guess.

From the images provided, the coin looks to be MS63 at best. The label probably says MS64

The images on ebay when I bought the coin made it look better than it is, I think. When I look at the coin, a lot of the original luster (but not all) is gone and there are spots I didn't see in the images on ebay. I thought 61 or 62 would probably be a fair grade for this coin, but I wanted to see what others here think. I was kind of hoping you'd all say MS64 is right.

That's exactly what I'm thinking, and I have the coin in my hand. So my lesson from this is stick with PCGS or NGC in the future. Or ANACS. They grade fairly, don't they?

Nope. Stick with your gut. You're a better grader than you think. :)
