For the record, I voted as if I did not know the answer, and pretended I was seeing the coin for the first time, in someone else's poll. Edit: my hypothetical vote, based on what I might have said if I didn’t know the answer, was AU53. That is not necessarily the actual grade on the holder.
I went MS61. I see no wear across the princess' hair and I can even make out the veining in the reverse oak leaves. I think she is MS but I feel the fields would prevent any higher MS grade..... I am not a grader but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.
There’s no MS61 vote showing. Just my AU53 “pretend I don’t know the answer” grade, and someone’s AU55. Changed your mind, perhaps? You’ve seen this one in person.
Yeah, I read the images as having luster everywhere but the high points. At least we're not betting like the guy in this short story:https://www.classicshorts.com/stories/south.html
I voted “problem coin.” It has AU sharpness, but the surfaces appear to dull and lifeless as if it’s been cleaned. Although this type frequently has strike issues, which impairs the sharpness of the design features, luster is usually not an issue. If it has a grade, I would give it EF-45 because of the dullness.
I have found that the 1855-P is better struck, on average, than the 1854-P. This piece is graded MS-63. This one is graded MS-64.
