    Ok so I added my penny ynd my dime. Of course I think I have the super rare error coin but what it probably is is some jerk defacing my coins. Lol

    Not necessarily even a jerk deliberately defacing them. Just life in circulation, is all. Coins sometimes have a hard life out there in the world.

    Pick an appropriate category (forum). At the top of each you should see a blue “Post new thread” button. From there you may proceed the same as you would in replying to someone else’s topic (thread), except your coins will be in their own threads.

    Ok yes I could use assistance on how to make a new post for coins do I am posting it properly. How can I tell that it was not a mint error? It looks like clad is partially pulled back and I thought that happens as the mint. Or my penny with the last date number is higher then the others wouldn’t that be the Mint?

    Learning to tell the difference between an error that happened at the mint during the manufacturing process- which sometimes carries a premium- is often difficult for novices to distinguish from coins with post-mint damage (PMD), which happened outside the mint, and which detracts from the value.

    All I can say is that it takes learning. Learning the different types of errors and how they happen- and what they do and don’t look like (by looking at a lot of genuine error coins) is the way to do that.

    You could learn a lot about that right here on the Errors forum, though you’ll need to remember that that forum is chock full of other novices who do not know what they have, either. So take what people there say with a grain of salt, unless it comes from a knowledgeable source. @Fred Weinberg is one of the most recognized experts. Locally on this site, @paddyman98 is a knowledgeable collector of error coins.

    The dime with the clad partially pulled back had that done by PMD- post-mint damage. The anomalies around the date on the cent are also PMD - pockmarks and such. Not part of the minting process.

    Welcome to coin talk and don't worry about "Silly questions", it's part of the learning process. We all have been there at one time or other, some of us are still there. Just have fun looking at coins.

    I'm unsure why it's so hard to post a photo here so I'll just ask a quick question and we'll go from there.

    I know absolutely nothing about coins but my 11 year old is kinda getting into it and he found a 1969 Elizabeth II Canadian penny that he thinks is worth something.

    I told him I'd try to find out. Does anyone know if that coin is worth anything?

    Hi and welcome to CT. You can't post images until you have made 10 posts or replies. Look through the forums and contribute if and where you can. It is great for the hobby when youngsters show an interest. With over 330 million struck it would need to be in excellent condition to have a premium over it's face value.

    When I am responding to a thread and include a pic it says "upload a file" but when I start a thread it says " URL" and I have no idea what that is. How do I get it to say upload file when I start a thread?

    URL is Uniform Resource Locator and commonly it is the beginning part of a web address, http://. So I have no idea where you are seeing it, Post your question on the Help and Support sub-forum to see if anyone can help you further. Are you using a phone or a PC?

    It is asking for an address to retrieve an image from. When you have clicked on new post to start a thread, if you scroll to the bottom do you see 3 options?
    Post Reply, Upload a file and More options, if not you need to ask an administrator/moderator. Sorry can't be of more help
