To date, I have found the following 2009 coins in circulation: LP1, LP2, LP3, LP4 (P's only) All of the DC and Territorial Quarters (P's only) with the help of my mother who plays bingo at her church Two Roosevelt dimes (P's) in change from Walmart in August No Jefferson nickels yet. I may need to have my mother ask the ladies at bingo for some help with the nickels.
I bought a 2009 encased nickel, they were very limited. They're selling 2009 P nickels and dimes for 99 cents each...
me too. i have not seen any of those 2009 u.s. coins. some of the 2009 mint roll like tyler dollar, kennedy half dollar, guam, virgin islands and american samoa quarters, lincoln cent formative years. all in original boxes. and were unopened. so i can not see them. but to tell you guys frankly. none of these coins were rare. check the 2004 and 2005 westward nickels. mostly traded near face value. isn't it. let's talk about kennedy half dollar. 1,900,000 pc minted. is it rare? . if not. then those several millions minted. are they rare?. look at first spouse gold. few thousand pc only. that is really rare. or the 2008 american buffalo and eagle gold series. again less than 25,000 minted. that is rare. that is what we suppose have to collect it. right?. here are the list of this year 2009 lowest mintage: lincoln presidency (p) - 129,600,000 jefferson nickel (p) - 39,840,000 roosevelt dime (d) - 49,500,000 n. mariana quarter (p) - 35,200,000 kennedy half (p & d) - 1,900,000 each. taylor dollar (d) - 36,680,000 native american (p) - 39,160,000 2008w AGE 1/4 unc gold - 8,883 2008w prosperity set - 7,622
Chances are, you'll see a 2010 before a 2009 in many parts of the country. That is, unless they keep production low again. Where's hind sight when you need it?
I have not found any of the dimes or nickels from this year. I had to buy the mint set to see them I also bought it to have those copper pennies. YEA!
Man I hope you're right! I refuse to pay a premium on coins that should be in cash registers all acrossed the country.
I have found many of the LP 3 though. Pretty prevalent more than the LP2's. in this area. Being this close to Penn, I always find coins from penn mint, I have still to find 2008 D quarters from Arizona, Hawaii, Alaska, and New Mexico. These are all I need to finish my set.
I got an American Samoa quarter just yesterday. For some reason a local bodega has a huge amount of Virgin Island quarters, I've only seen one of the rest (okay, four DC's) except for Marianas, which I've yet to see.
If there is so much coin clogging the Fed that they pretty much still have all the 2009 coins in the vaults still waiting for release, why would they do a large production run of 2010 coins?
Been wondering the same thing Conder101. If mintages were lower in 2009 and we've yet to see the d mint dimes or nickels of the 2009, why wouldn't the mintages be low this year as well with the fed backed up with coins. I think the combination of the economy, and the ease and availability of coinstar will seriously alter our mintage totals for the forseeable future.
