Lo & behold i was able to upload a pic......i reckon i'm graduating from open cardboard display boxes(from the grocery store) to glass & wood n such...which one of these do you like better?.. POST AWAY PEEPS
I think I prefer the glass display (though recommend losing the plastic. Long term it can hurt the coins), but love the look of both! I just moved my MSC collection from the coin cabinet to some Lindner trays:
I tried using these Japanese dollar store wood boxes, but they’re kinda dark and hard to see in. I could string it up with led lights but that’s too much work. the shelves to the side are meant for storing nail polish bottles, but they make for a nice, easily stackable, open-air display which encourages touching. I like touching my coins so this works well for me
lQQks good Ryro...(did that come from Spain?)..purdy and handy..and fits on top of your coin cabinet...
I won it from Timeline out of England. Fortunately it doesn't weigh much as I'd won books from them and had to end up having them resold as it was just waaaay too much to pay to have them shipped "across the pond" ...I lost out and they were not helpful from the beginning. That said, I'm very happy with the holders
..you mean the plastic holders?...the new ones i bought are supposed to be 'de-plasticized'..but yeah i know what you're saying ...yeah, somebodies paying the vig on the crown jewels...
Nice storage solution! I’m keeping all my coins in Beba trays. They don’t need much space when they are in the drawer boxes but allow me to look at substantial parts of my collection at the same time without having to remove coins from envelopes or plastic holders. Here are my Greek coins in their trays!
I semi-recently upgraded my setup. Felt great going from a generic show-style tray to this. Absolutely love the green velvet on these abafil trays
What? I'm actually getting likes for the sl*b album, instead of being pelted with rotten tomatoes? Wait'll they find out that missing Hadrian tetradrachm is off to NGC soon. The vegetables will start flying then!
I keep all of my coins in the coin holder that they come in. Mostly, the ones I get from the Mint. I have some loose coins that I put in 2x2s and then in boxes that fit the 2x2s perfectly. I think I saw someone write that the coin containers we get our coins in from the Mint may harm your coins. However, they are in "plastic" holders that the Mint shipped them in. Now that the Mint has gone "CHEAP" by putting the American Silver Eagles in thin cardboard boxes instead of the holders used in previous years. Are they dangerous? I like the old holders the Mint used. Is there a source that sells them? I like to keep all of my ASE's together and look alike.
I like that Maximus sestertius: first pic, second row, fourth coin. That's the one that caught my eye, for some reason. @Mat is right, though. It's quite an impressive display.
Abafil offers to customize trays and cases for every order of at least 10 products from their store. A bunch of us got together (including members here on CT and the r/AncientCoins subreddit and Discord) and had them make these. From memory, there was an additional fee for the engraving (I think 15 EUR?)
