JeffC Go explore something and think a happy thought!

I'd like to share a trick I learned right here on CoinTalk. To determine whether it's a Close AM, there's no need to look too closely at the fonts. In fact, it's quicker to zoom out. If the "M" is centered between the "A" and the "E," it's not a Close AM.

CLOSE AM: You'll notice this: AM E
    OTHERWISE: You'll see this: A M E

Take a look at your first reference photo: You'll see that the "M" is much closer to the "A" than the "E."

Then, in the second photo (your coin), the "M" is right in the middle between the "A" and "E." So it's not a CLOSE AM.

It's a very quick way of finding out and you don't need magnification.

I don't think yours qualifies as a close AM. Keep in mind, that often times, as a die wears, the lettering can get mushy and in this case may look closer than a normal coin.

The C looks like a greaser to me! Either that or it's seriously worn!! IMHO!
