I don't see the the same defects in the shields stripes. If they are the same coin, it would fool me.

The date position on the obverse. And the marks between the D and S of UNITED STATES on the reverse as well as the toning dot below the wreath ribbon on the reverse. There are actually a few others if you look deeper.

Some marks can be seen on both pictures, e.g. those below/right hand side of ES in statES. Regarding the grade, I agree with C-B-D, it looks more like XF/AU but it’s not UNC.

Sorry but these are not the same coin.. this section of the obverse is clearly different.. There is almost no detail, it's all worn away on the coin that was sent..

I think the guy is shady. He had an Indian Cent that obviously was cleaned. It happened a coin I wanted an 1890 1 in neck. I asked him why he doesn't disclose that the coin and others he had were cleaned. He told me he knows how to run a business. He blocked me from bidding on his coins.

I'd bet that he mixed up two coins while doing inventory and mis-labeled this one and probably sent the nice, shiny high grade coin to someone that thought they were getting the brown, worn down coin he sent me

    That’s 100% the same coin.

Then explain the differences in the sheild. Where are the dibits in the bars?

    Coinman_2000, is that you???

If you honestly believe that the details on the shiny left coin are 100% the same as the details on the worn down brown coin on the right at opposite ends of the yellow arrows.. then I have a box of worn down coins I'd be willing to sell you at AU prices

I know you are upset, but there is no need to troll him. Her might be right, but I don't see it.

Didn't meant to give the impression that I was upset, just completely shocked..

I sent the coin back for a refund so I really don't have any dogs in the race, just can not believe that someone would think

    * a worn brown coin could be lit and photographed so that it resembled a shiny detailed coin

    * that if they thought they were getting a shiny detailed coin and received a worn brown one that they'd be satisfied

    * that they can look at the side by side photos and still think they are same coin..

The only thing the same about them is the date... maybe they were the same coin in 1864 but not now..

I guess there's really no point in continuing the debate since I'm the only one that thinks they are different and I sent it back for a refund so we can just let it lie

I agree. I don't think it is the same coin. What entails sending it back?

For some reason I got on his e-mail list and despite "unsubscribing" he continues to spam me relentlessly. Just based on that I wouldn't have anything to do with him....everything automaticlly goes into my spam folder so good riddance.
