1733 Simian

    Well I finally pulled the trigger on my 1st Simian and thought I would share it with you. I have Attributed it to Plate 2 - 7 Obverse -33B Reverse for what thats worth. As always comments and discussion encouraged.

    Is that a KG 2 ? What's a Simian ? Bust design ? I'm confused .

    "Simian" means ape- or monkey-like, but I was unaware there was a halfpenny variety so called. I can see why now. So yeah, apparently because the face is monkeylike.

    Actually the arm is monkey like.... is my understanding why they refer these as Simian Family.

    They're pretty primitive in they're name assignment. If it looks like bubble gum they name it bubble gum face. Ya.... theres one called bubble gum face.

    Its a contemporary counterfeit. George II .... not sure what KG 2 is. Maybe you can explain. I'm really not that well versed on these. Just trying to put together a decent collection together. Maybe 6. Simian is simply its family type.

    I found a 1753 ( King George 2nd) but don't know the variety .

    The book I have only covers contemporary counterfeit (non-regal) types. I believe yours is Regal.
