Simple Math but are those worth anything or just Cool:cool: to collect ? That is the daily question of the day. Is a RPM ( re-punched mintmark) worth any EXTRA Value ??
Here's a subtle 1961D east LMC (given to me from CONECA).

When it come to Variety and Error coins.
Easy to see with your eye = more value added.
Need a loupe to see = less value added.
JMO. I personally would never buy a RPM.
    Even CONECA gives them away.

I love most kinda of errors, even I don't bother with those (or the 1960 LG date and Sm. date if you have to squint that much to see it, not worth it to me)

The only excitement I have left in coin collecting is to look for anomalies. And, from the chatter on CT, I think many folks are in the same groove.

Just an upside down M, for Memorial.
When you think about it......never mind.
    My mind wanders.

At least RPM's are legitimate varieties. But, why are die cracks and die chips discussed so frequently on the Error Forum? They are just the result of an abused or defective die.

I too received one from CONECA, which I couldn't see to save my life. Value beyond face, ZERO to me.

For me an RPM is exciting because of how it happened! I understand there may be thousands of them out there, but if I can see it, and it's on Variety Vista, or Wexler's, that makes it special to me. Isn't that what collecting is all about, finding something that is special to the collector? I guess I just don't really care much about the value! I mainly collect for the excitement!! JMO!

wow I was just saying that same thing yesterday to a guy that asked me what was my latest excitement coin. When I told him about the Brockage. first thing he asked "how much is it worth?" I had no answer

From the department of redundancy department. :)

What's interesting to me about all this is that up until fairly recently, literally every die was punched or hubbed more than once, and if the die and coin were in good enough condition and struck well enough, especially with a microscope you can find evidence of that all over the place. I enjoy it whenever somebody posts something new, it's always cool to look at. When somebody acts like it's going to buy them a vacation home it's a bit annoying.

Yes, there are similarities, but the similarities are different.
