Yes its a common date wheat cent with 136,00,000 produced worth a cent.

 

What is that next to the 1???? It looks like an s to me. What would u say?

 

Your seeing things just normal circulation wear and tear not an S.

 

I honestly think you are looking too hard to find something, anything. Research how dies are made, the minting process etc. it will be good knowledge and will enable you to discard those coins with damage, circulation wear etc. These sites among others have some good info to get you started on the process and recognising true errors and varieties. I see exactly what you are questioning, but it is too small to be a "dropped letter" and with the hits all around it, I believe we are seeing our minds filling in the blanks, with is called pareidolia. Like seeing shapes of animals in clouds. Just a trick of our minds, but keep looking.

Its a heavily damaged 1918 wheat cent not a woody.

From the limited size and quality of the images, it looks like a corrosive issue or it has beem severely scrubbed with a wire brush, lol

 

There’s an S mint mark below that date. The date itself took a hit.
