This is one of those things that I bought because it "spoke" to me. I don't really collect France or Jetons.

 

That is a very likeable coin, don't blame you for grabbing it.

That first one is very similar to mine. Do you have the diameter on yours? Mine is close to the size of a silver dollar. It's en route so I don't have all of the specs.

 

Yeah, it's roughly 27mm octagon and weighs 9.0 grams.

I went to their coin show a couple weeks ago, I forgot I had it.

 

The sellers photos tell the story on this one. It is a Ron Landis creation. Not sure what year it was done, I'll have to poke around the old GMMNut site to narrow it down.

But it really isn't a piece, it is actually a "set."





What makes this set unique is that the two planchets you see above were actually struck with a 1977-D Lincoln Cent sandwiched in between.





All I need to do now is to find a nice MS 1977-D Lincoln to put the full set back together.

Yes, it's a created "error" but it's right up my alley from an interest perspective.

I couldn't pass on it. The seller was asking way too much for the set, so I offered him 55% of his ask. He countered at 75% of his ask. I knew that I would regret not picking these up forever, so I went further out on the limb and grabbed them.
