I visited one of my grandsons home a lil while back and noticed a jar half full of the presidential coins. Patting him on the back for saving money , I asked "How full before you take it to the bank?" His face was utter shock. "Papaw, those are GOLD coins, I am saving to cash in on the gold." I snickered because that was funny, his face didn't change, he was serious. When I told the 25 y/o that GOLD dollars was just a name he didn't believe me. Oh well, I left that alone at least he's saving money even for the wrong reason, but he has a shock coming that's for sure.
My kids get them from the tooth fairy for losing teeth. FFIVN knows that they aren't gold...Trying to convince the 5 year old though....that's another story.
If he still doesn't believe you @Southernman189, you might want to show him this: https://www.usmint.gov/learn/coin-and-medal-programs/coin-specifications
This was an amusing anecdote until you said he's 25 yrs old. Then it became an cautionary indictment of an educational system. Good luck.
I have been asked many times (those that know I collect coins) "Are those NEW GOLD coins, GOLD?" I just shake my head in disbelief and say NOOOOOOOO
Hey Papaw, don't you know anything, geez. He is saving them so he can pay the nursing home bill he is going to put you in. Get with it man, he loves you dude and you want to pop his bubble, shame on you. Just kidding, haha.
That boy ain't got brains enough to get in out of the rain lol just wait until he's ready to cash in his GOLD lol
I found a George Washington one that had a matte finish. Is that Super Special. Only matte I’ve found
