How could NGC do this ? Do I have any recourse for this ?

So the 'subjective' grading guys are asking me to be 'subjective' in my estimation. What if I put down $10 on the estimation value of an ASE? Melt value is more, but , what if?

I think you must be confused this is America where any problem that you create was caused by some other person who now must pay To fix the problem. $3 million McDonald’s coffee.

 

Then you'd just be being dumb as that number has no impact on your costs.

The value you put is the maximum you can get paid out from an insurance claim from either being lost/damaged in shipping or a rare freak accident.

 

If you're referring to the mid 1990s lawsuit it helps to know the facts of a case. That lawsuit was completely justified

I've never cleaned any coin and was told years ago to leave the coin in the state I got it in.

 

Well again today I'm waiting to see if the NGC package will be delivered. I also found the original post with the original picture of the piece, of who I bought the Seated Dime from. If truly, the coin was cleaned and I purchased it from an auction house, any recourse ? Me, bite the bullet and just another learning experience. But this original tone on the coin when I purchased it, to finding out it was 'cleaned' once NGC got it is my concern and I need to learn more on how to tell the differences.

Well package in hand, and have pictures of original and my pictures of the slabbed coin from NGC. Let me know what you think. Obverse mark on belly on both pictures, in the middle are the same. On the reverse, there is a mark through the "E" in DIME are the same.

 

under the circumstances I need a clearer picture. The oroginal images have dithering issues, and the second is slighly out of focus.

I can only assume the toning your Seated dime had was some sort of AT. What ever solution NCS used washed it away. Two of the coins I sent in I did the same as you, I checked the NCS box. The coin goes directly to NGC for grading after. Both coins were toned and both were sent to NGC following their visit to NCS. Both still retained the toning.

Well $10 estimate most likely wouldn't change the tier so you would still be charged the same amount for grading, and it would be shipped back insured for $10. And if somehow it got lost or damaged on the way back that is the maximum reimbursement you would receive.

 

getting paid value for these matters is not a simple matter anyway. What do they require to get paid?
